A Motel on the Mainland, Sunday Morning
Jul. 28th, 2013 02:05 pmIt surprised Natalie that there were still relatively mild kinds of weirdness that could unsettle her. She would've liked to claim people acting a little bit off while still thinking they were themselves didn't faze her. But it had. To the point where she'd grabbed the closest unaffected person and run off the island, destination anywhere.
Which was why the morning found her curled up on a motel bed. On her side, facing away from her companion. The way she slept when she felt safe and comfortable with a person. Not that she was really asleep anymore. She was stirring already, and her eyes would flutter open soon to thoughts of vending machine breakfast and plans for the day beyond.
Just not yet.
