Some Festival, Somewhere, Thursday FT

Some shows seemed similar, blending into each other until Envy's recent past seemed like one big blur of stages and stages and stages that were all essentially the same.

And then some shows were wholly special. Some shows happened during sunset on stages under a big tent, with a gentle breeze blowing from the ocean. Some shows had Envy jumping and bouncing around the stage in her short sequined dress and feeling happy.

Some shows made it feel like everything was possible.

Some shows made it feel like it didn't matter whether everything was possible, because this was all that mattered. The stage and the breeze and the sunset and the sequins, and the roar and energy and smiles of the crowd.

This made everything else worth it.

Envy leaned in closer.

Or just leaned her body more against his. Semantics.

Close enough. Peter wrapped his arms around her, slowly acquiescing the lead to her.

He trusted her to take them wherever they needed to go.

Envy wasn't sure she trusted herself like that, but it was appreciated.

Anyway, she could make the slow switch from gentle to something a little more harsh happen. She could do so while running her fingers up into his hair, too.

Well, it wasn't like he was giving her all of the control. Peter wasn't even sure he was capable of it.

But enough to let her set the pace, his fingers digging into her hip as he kissed her more firmly - nipping at her bottom lip.

"Mmm."

Teeth were always a good choice with Envy. Almost always, anyway. Close enough.

Envy's hand left his shoulder to move down between them and undo some of the buttons on her shirt.

"I missed you," Peter murmured. "No one snarks at me while I'm working like you do."

Kissed her again, tossing his jacket onto the floor.

Envy exhaled some random little sound of amusement against his lips.

"That sounds like my new song," she said – or mumbled – as her shirt slid down one shoulder, exposing a black bra strap. And half of one cup.

It looked expensive, of course.

"Sorry about the plagerism," Peter quipped, tugging open a few buttons of his shirt while he had the chance, as well.

"It's okay," Envy said, just deciding to tug her shirt all the way off. It ended up on the floor. "Means the song's meaningful the way it's supposed to be."

Peter raised his eyebrows, but he didn't ask anything else. He had to help her with her bra: vastly more important.

Envy might not have agreed with that assessment, but she also wasn't objecting. Or offering up any explanation on her own, because an eyebrow raise wasn't going to cut it on this one.

But she raised her arms, ready to shuck the bra off as soon as it was undone.

Peter pried it diligently away from her, dropping it to the floor. He smoothed his hands over her breasts, appreciating them - kissed the skin between her collarbones, slowly and deliberately.

"You'll have to play it for me later."

"I don't have to do anything," Envy retorted, for no other reason than banter. No other reason than the fact that it came naturally.

Just like tilting her head back, just like her arms over his shoulders and her hand in his hair.

"It's the jovial 'have'," Peter sighed, kissing between her breasts. "Not everything is a battle for control over your precious time."

"No," Envy agreed, with a smirk to her voice (and on her face, but he had a good reason for not seeing that). "Just the fun things."

What, she liked what she liked.

"Or, well," she reconsidered, "the tine part's irrelevant to that."

Peter considered it.

"You'll have to play it for me later," he said again, and nipped at her skin just a little sharply.

Envy gasped. Just a soft little sound, but sudden. "Oh, really?" she asked, her voice gone a little velvety all of a sudden. "Will you make me?"

"If you continue to be such a pain in my ass," Peter said.

His next kiss, lower towards her belly, was gentle again. For now.

Envy's nails scratched the back of his neck.

"Aw, but being a pain in the ass is so good for keeping men in line," she murmured. "So I'm afraid I don't have any other settings."

"I don't know about that."

That bite had done good things. He'd learn from that. Peter matched it now with another, right below her bellybutton.

Good choice, judging by the second little gasp.

"What if I want to be my only setting?"

"Then maybe you need a lesson," Peter said practically.

He hooked his fingers in her waistband and tugged down.

"Maybe," Envy agreed with a crooked smirk, looking down at what he was doing. One hand moved down and undid the front of her pants. Just to make his tugging a little more fruitful.

Peter's mouth curved into something grateful but unwilling to admit it.

Then he pressed his mouth against her underwear, getting the front of it wet.

Envy swallowed. She'd meant to quip, and she hadn't quite forgotten the urge, either. But right this moment, she was more interested in where he was going with this.

So she shut up. For the moment. It wouldn't last.
